The event will be held at Lifestyle Fitness Matthew Arnold, STAINES, TW18 1PF (which has free onsite parking). Step into your spotlight and unleash your inner showgirl in this fun and empowering taster introduction to Burlesque led by Petit Pois - our founding burlesque artist, born and raised in Surrey. In this non-strip class, you’ll explore the art of the tease and the empowering history of burlesque. Instead of focusing only on dance, we’ll dive into the art of storytelling through burlesque - discovering how to use character, comedy, and sensuality to express yourself. Together we’ll devise in small groups, learning how to create playful and powerful scenes that celebrate the many sides of femininity. You’ll be encouraged to discover your burlesque alter ego - whether that’s a cutie-pie, a sultry vixen, or something wonderfully in between. ✨ What to expect: - A short dive into the history and feminine power of burlesque - The art of the tease: sexy, funny, and deeply expressive - Learn a short classic Showgirl dance routine - Devising in small groups to create storytelling scenes - Exploring your burlesque alter ego and unique style - The chance to be both participant and viewer - learning how the audience completes the performance - A supportive, playful, and body-positive environment Whether you’re here to boost body confidence, make new friends, enjoy a fun and creative escape, or even take the first steps towards our 8 week Burlesque course that starts 17th March resulting in an optional showcase at Esher Theatre 9th May - this is the place to begin. Suitable for anyone between the ages of 18-100 No dance experience necessary ✨ What to wear Wear whatever you feel comfortable and confident in - something easy to move in. Gym wear, leggings, or a fitted top all work well. Heels are completely optional. You’re welcome to wear heels if you’re comfortable, but dancing in flats or barefoot is absolutely fine too. Share the experience with friends and get £16 off with code GROUPTEASE for bookings of 4+
